Riese & Müller Delite5 (2027): A Full-Suspension E-Bike Built for All of Canada
Rocky Mountain climbs, prairie headwinds, Canadian Shield gravel, coastal rain, and long weekend tours all ask something different of a bike, and the 2027 Riese & Müller Delite5 is built to answer all of them from the same frame. This is a full-suspension e-bike engineered and assembled at Riese & Müller's own factory in Germany, using a frame manufactured in Portugal, and for 2027 its Bosch Performance Line CX motor has been unlocked to deliver up to 120 Nm of torque through the Bosch Performance Upgrade 2.0, the same torque ceiling now shared across all three Delite5 drivetrain options. That last point matters more than it sounds: on most e-bikes, a continuously variable hub is the one part of the drivetrain that can't handle a high-torque motor at full output. The Delite5 Vario no longer has that limitation.
120 Nm of Torque, Shared Across Every Drivetrain
That's because Enviolo's new Utility hub, standard on the 2027 Vario, was built specifically to take the CX's full 120 Nm without the shift-under-load hesitation older stepless hubs needed. Pair that with the Gates CDX belt drive on both the Vario and the Rohloff E-14 configurations, and you get gearing that never needs lubrication, never derails, and shrugs off winter road salt and grime, wherever in Canada you ride, in a way a traditional chain and derailleur can't. If you'd rather have a familiar, lower-cost drivetrain with wide gear range and easy field maintenance, the Touring configuration's Shimano XT 11-speed derailleur is the more budget-conscious way into the same frame, motor, and suspension.
Full Suspension Built to Handle Real Terrain
The suspension is where the Delite5 separates itself from most trekking e-bikes in this category. A Fox AWL 34 Boost fork (120 mm travel) up front and a Fox Float Rhythm shock (110 mm travel) out back, combined with an X-Fusion Manic dropper seatpost, mean this bike doesn't just tolerate rough pavement and gravel, it's tuned for it. A 67° head tube angle and 75° seat tube angle keep the handling stable at speed without making the bike feel sluggish at commuting pace. The frame itself is cast from 30% recycled aluminum, comes in Amber or Stone Grey, and carries an integrated frame lock on the rear stay as standard. Riders who want GPS tracking and remote alarm control on top of that can add Bosch's Alarm System and Connect Module, both available on Canadian Delite5 models through the Bosch Flow app.
Range, Security, and Everyday Practicality
Range comes from a fully integrated, removable Bosch PowerTube 800 Wh battery, with an optional PowerMore 250 Wh range extender for riders who want more distance between charges without adding a second full battery. A Bosch Kiox 500 or Purion 200 display handles ride data and navigation, Supernova M99 Mini Pro and TL3 Pro lighting (with an integrated brake light) comes standard, and Tektro hydraulic disc brakes can be upgraded to Magura MT C with Bosch eBike ABS for riders who want the extra stopping confidence in wet Canadian conditions. With a 120 kg maximum rider weight, a 160 kg gross vehicle weight rating, and a co-sprung luggage rack rated for 27 kg on top of pannier and handlebar bag capacity, the Delite5 is built to carry a genuine daily load, not just a rider.
